Dissatisfaction with Government
The first underlying Cause for the revolution is the dissatisfaction with the government the people had. The people did not like the government for a few reasons. First, they were corrupt and just wanted money for themselves not caring about the general public. Not only was the Government corrupt but the people also didn't like that there was a dictatorship. Fulgencio Batista ruled Cuba twice, once as a voted leader and the next time as a dictator nobody liked. Batista censored the press and used repression to stay in power therefor making people want him gone
Poor Conditions for Lower Class Cubans
While Batista led a dictatorship over Cuba many Cubans were unemployed, lived in poverty and in bad health making them want the government changed up. More than half of the population didn't even have a real house before the revolution. All of these Cubans were in support of the revolution.
The U.S Controlling Cuba
After the Spanish American war Spain signed a peace treaty giving Cuba and other places to the U.S. The U.S then played a big role in running Cuba by supporting Batista and not the lower class Cubans. They also helped corrupt Cuba making the people not like them and Batista even more.
